First time went on deer hunting; took several shot but it's totally a waste on my first day.

If yo took several shots at deer and missed, it sounds to me like you needed quite a bit more practice.

Agreed. An not just practice on accuracy, but education on when and when not to take a shot.

If you're in the US, I sincerely hope these shots were not taken recently. Season's been over awhile.
Can you describe the scenarios in more detail? Some of the experienced people on this site (I do not consider myself one of them, yet) might be able to provide some better constructive criticism if you walk us through what happened, exactly.

No, it is not a great beginning! Missing several deer means you do not know how to shoot!

One shot one kill. Maybe two to finish a wounded animal quickly, you should be asking yourself why 2 was needed.

If you didn't hit anything on your second shot you cut yourself off from shooting. You should be asking yourself what's wrong with your weapon or your skill, head home and fix the problem before hunting again.

If your shooting several times and missing you should seriously rethink your hunting ethics, along with your lack of marksmanship.

I do believe we got our point across. There is either something horribly wrong with his equipment, his shooting skill or his decision making in taking a shot.
