My First Hunt
If it weren't for my Grandfather, I don't think I ever would've even fired a gun before I was 18. After he had taken me countless times to his shooting club, for my 15th birthday he told me we were going pheasant hunting. I was so excited, and when the first bird finally came up, I raised my shotgun - and nothing happened. He thought I got nervous and didn't want to shoot and told me it was ok, but I started laughing. It was the middle of winter and my gloves were a bit thick, and I couldn't even fit my finger past the trigger guard to take the shot. When we got the next bird I had taken my left glove off, and lo and behold when the bird came up I fired and got a perfect shot. I've never seen a more proud and happy look on my Grandfather's face, and he's the greatest. This is a bit dated, but I'm still young so I think it belongs here So, does anyone else have some odd or funny things occur on your first hunt?
