Default CHUFLA ??????

Talking to a friend today about food plots. He brought up planting "CHUFLA" (not sure of spelling.) Anyway he said deer and turkeys love the stuff. I've never heard of it. Will it grow in NW Wisconsin? Will it come back year after year? What can you tell me about it? THANKS

Check out www.chufa.com Nice guy up the road has the site and sells chufas. He can probably answer any questions you may have.

I planted a wildlife plot for a landowner a couple years ago , I had to disc up a clover plot to plant chufa for him. It was too bad because the chufa didnt do anything , but gather a nice patch of weeds and the clover was already thick, but it was his farm and so it goes....

Brad,
I was in Gander Mountain in Green Bay last Thursday and came across Chufa on their shelf. If you are still interested you can at least go and read the lable to get a better idea of what this stuff is. Good luck !

One thing to keep in mind is the type of soil that you have. It should be a sandy or loose type of soil for the chufa to grow well and the animals to dig it up.
