Default New Clear Cut

At my club they just did every 5th row clear cut. I have a stand that was on a straite road and it was on the end. I could pull up behind the stand 50 yards back park and walk in undedected. I will try to describe this the best before i bring pics. Ok you walk in and to look down a 300 yard road it is about 30 yards wide. nice dirt also. When you are sitting in the stand you can look to the right and see about half and acre of just cleared timber with on the ground tommerow i am going to work all day trying to clear the wood off the ground so it is just dirt. I dont know if the deer will come out to the open area. mabye. Then they did cuts back in the woods diagnol to the stand on the right. My luck of course. they didnt cut one so i can see down it from the stand. What do you think i should plant in the area. i am going to put the camera up tommerow. thanks guys

Greens work good. Winter peas, wheat, oats and rye grass are also a good choice.

LOTS of work to try and clear that amount of logging debris unless you have a dozier or something. I would go ahead and get it cleaned up, getting a little late to plant unless you hurry up. Move the stand if you have to.

At this late date I would use cover crop rye, its way too late for turnips and rape, clover.I would try to get it in soon, so it can germinate before a freeze.

That would depend on location. While getting close to the end it is still plenty of time around here to plant.
