Default no rain,,, will it hurt

I planted all my plots last weekend,, stayed out till very late at night cause they were calling for rain the next day,, well it never came,, and hasnt yet.. will my seed be fine on the ground until it rains?? thye still arent calling for any in the next few days,, but possibly in a week or so.. I got out 700 lbs of seed consisting of oats, wheat, rye, all winter varieties,, along with chickory, clover, turnips, and biologic green patch plus,, whic is mainly just a mix of what i already have.. Should i be worried about the seeds, or will they be fine until it rains.. i guess i cant do anything about it anyway,, just wondering.

If you didn't cover them, even a little, there will be fair game for the birds. But, a dry spell shouldn't hurt the seeds if they haven't germinated. They will just lay dormant until they get the moisture they need to sprout. Did you fertilize the plots? if you did, it could burn the young sprouts if you don't get sufficent moisture. We planted 3 plots 10 days ago, had no rain til this morning (1 inch in 2 hours) Will wait until I see about 2" of growth before spreading fertilizer.
Maybe some others can also give some more advice.

i was afraid to cover it much didnt want the seed too deep,, so the next day when it didnt rain, i went to all the plots with a peice of chain link fence, and drug it over the seed,, it worked well cause the ground was so dry and dusty. As for the fertilizer,, no i didnt yet,, i usually put it on like you said, when its up about an inch or two, so im ok on that. Thanks for the info.

Guess you have a handle on it. I see you use chain link fence as I do. Works great here. Mine is about 6 feet long, with conduit wired to the top to hold it straight and give it some weight. We planted 4 plots a week ago, and no rain. Again this weekend my buddies planted 5 plots, the largest 3 acres. They got lucky, It rained today; 1 1/4 inches. My plots are starting to sprout now. I hope you have good luck with yours.
