Default When to use Vantage and to overseed

My clover field is three years old, and I am experiencing some grass growing in spots where the clover is kind of spotty. I used Vantage on the field two years to get rid of the grass, but did not overseed the bare spots. The vantage worked great, but grass eventually took the spots over again. I would like to know if it would be OK to overseed the field with more seed next spring before the frost is out of the ground? If so, should I use Vantage this fall to kill the grass, or should I wait until next year to spray the field? Where the clover is thick, I have no grass problems. Some weeds showed up, but after several mowings, the weeds disappeared, but the grass kept on growing, which I expected. I would appreciate any advice on overseeding and when the best time is to spray the field. Thank you.

I have the same problem. I live in Southern Mich. I have not used Vantage on this field but I am looking into it. Where do you buy your Vantage from? Have you read the food plot book or any articles by Ed Spinazzola (QDMA). He said he has sprayed with roundup At a lower concentration (1 quart/acre) and it kills the weeds and sets the clover back, but then the clover comes on strong. I spray a strip in my clover field and plant brassicas. The clover seems to come back in this 20 ft strip. I think I might try this next year if I can't find Vantage inexpensive. The generic round (Clear Out) is $55 for 2 1/2 gals. at Rural King farm store. That will treat 10 acres at this rate. I am going to try overseeding this spring also.

bowbender6: I bought my vantage from a fellow on this forum. I think his last name was Edwards. Not sure. Maybe he can reply to you. It cost me $21.95 plus shipping. This took care of my 3/4 acre plot. You can check on Google. Just ask where you can buy Vantage or Post, and several sites will appear. Hope this helps you out, and good luck.
