Default Salt licks, rubs, questions from a "noob"

I purchased a salt lick and set it up infront of my window where the woods meet an open area. Today I check to see if anything had been along and found several footprints. I am going to look into trailcams but am doubtful I will purchase one. Eitherways, my main question is, is it alright to have my saltlick there? It's close to winter but not freezing and since it does not snow in FL I do not think it will cause a problem.
Once it gets colder, should I go ahead and bring it in anyway? I am alittle worried they'll become "dependent" or something on it and it WILL cause a problem. I've never heard of them doing that before, so I wasn't sure.

Second question is, it IS time for bucks to start rubbing, right? I had assumed they have been doing so already in different states. I am inclined to think that rutting season is Dec-Jan...?

And lastly, I wanted to share pictures of a antler & skull I picked up in the woods. The antler doesn't belong to the dead deer, though it's a doe's skull...*cough* here are the pics:

You can leave your salt block out. The deer will need it, especially after the rut when the bucks will be needing more nutrition after chasing does. Second, the rut doesn't vary much from state to state and is usually from November midway through December.

The rut will depend on exactly where in Florida you live. Here in the NW Fl area where I live the rut is in during Jan.

If you are in an area where salt water is available a salt lick wont do much good, but in the mountains and inland it seems to help a little.
