Default winter rye

Has anyone planted winter rye in there food plot? Bought a #50 bag for 8 bucks.. Salesman at the seed store says it will grow until temp stays below 39 degrees, and stays green into the winter. This is the last plot of the season for me to plant. I 1acre in powerplant..3 acres in alfalfa/clover 2nd year, 1/2 acre of brassicas. and the last plot is getting regular annual rye, winter wheat, winter rye, and oats......cant wait to see which one the deer like best.

Default RE: winter rye

Rye is as close to being a fool proof food plot as it gets. It grows anywhere, the deer like it and it is cheap.
