If rain comes in the next 3 weeks or so the oatswill make it. Friend of mine planted oats in mid-August last year and they grew fine when it finally rained in mid September. I like to plant oatswhen the ground is very moist after a rain: Okies call it "mudding" oats.
I just planted my fall plot today and mowed my clover plot. I watched the weather about 3 days ago and they said rain Monday. I just got done watching the news and now they are saying it will be another week before we get any rain.[:@]

We planted our plots on 08/08, and we haven't had any rain yet. I spoke to the dealer today, and he said he's experiencing the same thing. He did say though that the seeds will come once the conditions are right i.e. once we actually get some rain.
I'm in MI too. I was going to plant my Buck Forage Oats Saturday. I checked the forcast, and just put down my fertilizer and lime. I didn't dare seed, I was afraid it would burn up. I'll seed in the next week or two.We sure could use some rain though.
