Default Update on my button buck

I don't know if you guys remember but I posted a while back that I've been raising a button buck since he was 2 days old. well he's at 7 months now. he's getting pretty big and even more ornry. everytime i wear brown he thinks im another deer and likes to horse around with me.

i've been feeding him several types of grains. i mix acorns in with the grain. he also has a constant supply of hay since he doesnt get the oppurtunity to browse like the wild deer. i try to keep the purina deer chow as the main food source. it looks like this diet is keeping him in really good health. he has the skin rubbed off his buttons and i imagine they will fall off soon to make room for his first set of antlers.

he almost got his butt kicked during rifle season. my neighber who was hunting back in the field behind my house saw a deer sneak through the treeline towards the pen. he snuck down to see what it was. here a big 8 pointer had his horns in the fence trying to get a piece of my buck. i guess mine was flipping out. i would be too.

this is much more exciting and cooler pet than a dog or cat!

It would be cool to see pictures of him as he grows.

Your not gona wana take care of him when he gets his first set of antlers!!!!!! I was fishing on our pond and a forkhorn walked up to me and we were petting it and feeding it. it would come back everyday. Then once the rut kicked in it pinned my dad against the garage all i can say is be careful!! The funny thing about it was there was no Woods with in 5 miles of our House!!!!!

haha yeah i know of the dangers. he was already fiesty as a button buck this rut, but he didnt have any weapons to do anything with. twice he jumped up on his hinds legs when i was feeding him and i immediately threw him to the gound. im sure it hurt a little bit but hey you gotta teach them right from wrong when they're young. i wont be sawing his horns of either, i can feed him without going into the pen

That is really great. I wish I had an opportunity to do that. You should post some pics so we can see the little guy.
