Default First Deer

I'm not sure if anyone remembers me or not. I have not been on here in almost a year. I bought a Herny "BigBoy" last year to hunt with. It's a 45 long colt..open sights. Last year was a bust....didn't even see a deer. Well this year was different. Saw more deer and got my first deer with the Henry. It was an 8 point! I had a 4 piont walk up behind me but he winded me and took off...that was good. About 10 minutes later the 8 point walked up. I don't hunt out of a stand. I walk and stand. The 8 point knew I was there but could not smell me. I waiting him out and he finally started walking with his side to me. I waited until he passed a brush pile and then shot. I was only about 25 yard from him. He dropped and never moved. So I guess the 45 long colt works well on deer. I wish I had pics but the ones we took didn't turn out very well.

Yea...it's very exciting. I was very calm when I was getting ready to shoot and was calm after I shot. It was when I walked up to the deer...that was when I started shaking...lol. It's a feeling you can't decribe.

Allen...handgun round but fired from a rifle. The Henry "Bigboy" is a lever action rifle with a octagon barrel and a brass receiver. It's a very sweet shooting rifle!!
