Default A successful hunt

Just back from the week of gun season. Great time!

I shot a big buck that dressed out at over 200. Made a nice hit as he broke out of the brush at 100 miles an hour. We were doing a one man push. the dogger jumped him just at the edge of the brushline where I was watching from my stand across a hydro line. He yelled to me that a big buck was coming to me. He busted out and started across the opening. One shot through the front and out under his leg right through the heart. Dropped right there at about 55 yds out. After the dust settled we found he had only one side. The right brow tine and whole left side was busted off in a fight. He had big puncture wounds on his head scabbing up from where he got it after his rack broke off. Man would I have loved to see that fight! (Also would have liked to got his sparring partner as well.)

Also filled some tags with 2 does and a spike. I was proud of the spike as well. I had one clear lane down the golden rods that I could see a long way out. I saw him and thought he was a doe. I radioed to the other guys and asked if they wanted me to shoot. I had already filled 3 of 8 tags and I wasn't sure what they wanted to do. Well early in the week they like to make sure we have enough meat and then we can go to doing our own thing and hunt for whatever we want i.e. big bucks. I was told that our club is "all one family and it doesn't matter who shoots". They are older guys who don't care about racks either and so they said to take her.

One shot with the .30-.30 iron sights and down he went in a pile. We later ranged it at 157 yds.

Total was 7 of 8 tags filled with 5 does and 2 bucks. I big buck missed by another guy who decided to light a cigarette at the wrong time [&:]

Not a state but a province. Ontario to be exact. Eastern part in an area that is farms, bushlots and a few bigger low, swampy areas.
