Default private land permission

During the last few years, I've gotten permission to hunt 6 different properties, just by knocking on a door and asking. I've only been rejected twice, and even then the landowners were polite and thanked me for asking. A couple of the properties I had to pay for in venison, and some have restricted me to certain areas (usually away from buildings and livestock, but I was going to avoid those areas anyway). For the most part, I've found that people are usually bothered by tresspassers, and ask that I keep an eye out for them. Do y'all have similar experiences?

Ditto, the fact you ask is always going to have some good grace consideration with a landowner. Once permission is granted I always stop in to tell them I am hunting and respect their property if it were my own. If they say no thank them for the time and be polite. One time in a area I was denied on several attempts we herded the farmers cattle back and fixed the fence (standard farm truck issue supplies are always useful when hunting here..lol). In any regard just finished repairing and he strolled along in his truck coming back form the mail run, at first I am sure he thought the worst but the fact the ground was wet the evidence was all over the road/ditch from the cattle. He knew who I was, thanked us and chatted a bit. I never asked to hunt his land b/c I had already been denied, just about to pull away and he said you boys come with me. Back to the house, mom puts out the coffee and he pulled out a RM to show us his/brother's/cousin land we could now hunt on. Just never know.

Yeah put on the ole charm and be polite. Landowners (most) really appreciate the ones that will take the time to knock on the door and ask permission. Always treat the land better than your own and go the extra mile to give the landowner a hand with something.

It is very common in our area to pay $5 to $10 per acre for the hunting rights to a parcel of property. Occasionally you can get free hunting (I got permission this week on about 1,000 acres), but that is very hard to find.

Yeah i hunt alot of private land too, most of the time the land owners dont have a problem with hunting there land if you get permisson. Its the people that just hunt the land with out permisson that give us guys a bad name...then up go the No tresspassing signs. there has been several times also where the land owner would have me keep and eye out on there property as well.
