Default Caliber of choice?

Well i thought it might be cool to see what caliber everybody is using out there for deer. I personally used a .270 win with 150 grain core-lokt. Works for me! im hitting dimes at 100 yards! my dad uses a 7mm rem mag with 150 grain core-lokts. So what do you guys use and what load for deer? (betcha 30-30 and 30-06 are most popular on this thread ) and why do you think your caliber is superior? please no fighting, just inform us about why you use it. i like the .270 for its versatility and its flat trajectory, also the variety of loads you can make and buy.

30-06. Cheap ammo and if I even do big game, I know I have the power needed.

.270 Winchester Silver Tips. I like it because I can shoot long distances and it knocks the deer down.

my go-to gun/caliber is a Winchester M70, .30-06 using Winchester Supreme 168gr Ballistic Tips ... super accurate, flat shooting, and kills deer very dead

I've been shooting a .243 since 1980, too old to change now...I usually use the 100gr Remington CoreLokts...

while i agree that all the calibers listed are great for deer size game (and BTW my favorite cals that i currently use are rem 260, 7mm-08, and for big fields i like my 7mmSTW) but please do yourself a favor and read the below post, it will save you a bunch of time and fustraition when deciding on the proper cal/gun....

you old timers can thank me later
