Default Bucks learn young

Long story short, been running a trail camera on this property and I drive all the way around so I can stay downwind of the doe bedding area.
The last 3 times I've been there, jumped 3 nice bucks, one was a real dandy.
So I figured I'd put a stand up, set a ladder stand in a split trunk white oak.
Real hard to hunt because the does are already in the area, busted them out the first time I went in.
They don't bust out at midday when I'm on the fourwheeler, only in the AM.

Anyway it dawned on me why these bucks were bedding on this open oak flat with a north wind.
  • Wind at their backs coming out of the bedding area, smell the does
  • They can see down the hill where I/anyone enter the woods.
  • Easy escape route, 3 jumps and they're over the hill.

Had this 6 pointer come in on me, it's neat to watch instinctual behavior.
I don't think it's something that he learned on his own(too young), bed with his back to the wind while watching down the 4wheeler trail.
Just wish I had a southern access to this property, it's be on like donkey kong.

couple vids of him, comin in and leaving.
Now I just need a north wind so I can hunt this stand again, hopefully something bigger will amble by.
