Preseason Ritual
First of all i'll introduce myself, I'm new to the site but have been hunting since i was old enough to go with dad. I started as strictly deer hunting, but since i had a truck to go out on my own, (about 8 years) I've branched out to fur-harvesting, duck, small game, and continue to deer hunt. Since the weather is finally starting to cool off in south central Kansas its got me excited for hunting season. Which gets me to thinking, what am i forgetting to do. I've done my scouting and sighting in, but I'm curious to know what others are doing to prepare?

Wash the camo in non brighting detergent, hang on screen porch for the week before the opener. Remove fire arm from the safe and wipe down all the storage oil double check scope screws and peep screws. Check knives for sharpness.
Load stuff I may need in my pack. Then wait.

Clean out the freezer. Recheck zero on cannon. Replace battery in laser, and wait. Everything else is always packed in the bag and ready 24/7. It'll be longjohns weather here by November. This morning it is a beautiful 34 degrees, and we have already had a few snowflakes. They got between 6 and 7 inches just west of me.

The only thing left to do is start warming up the skillet and butter.
Monday Sept.15th is opening day of muzzleloader and bow here in south central kansas. I always like to open with a BANG so to speak. I personally hunt for does in the early season and big bucks in rut 2nd 3rd or 4th week of november. Have a fantastic season! Already cleaned the blackpowder rifle and made up my pre-loads. LETS EAT!
