Deer ammo 25-06
What would be a real effective bullet for deer between 30 to 300 yds? Im getting a 25-06 browning X-bolt next month. Going to start reloading but i dont think i will have the equiptment before November. So I'll need some factory ammo for now. thanks for any help

I wouldnt worry too much about a bonded bullet for deer, try Remington Core Lokts first, theyre cheap and readily available, plus most rifles I test them in work well. Also try Hornady interlock in their custom or light mag offering. Good Luck, BTW probably too late too warn you but reloading is addicting.

You'll probably have to try 3-4 different factory loads to zero in on the one that groups best. I used to hunt with a Rem. 700 chambered for the 25.06 Rem. I used a 120 gr. Nosler Partition with excellent results, however I'd say any factory ammo loaded using a quality hunting bullet in the 100 gr.-120 gr. weight range would do just fine.

Federal prem vital-shock 100gr barnes XLC coated X bullet has worked for me as of a couple years ago that was the hottest factory ammo i could find for my ruger 25-06. I have taken several deer with this bullet with great results one at 300+yards.

I've been shooting a 25.06 for the past 15 seasons. The Winchester Silvertip Ballistic tip in 115 grains is a tack driving death bullet for whitetails.
My Browning A Bolt II Stalker will do legitimate 1/2" groups at 100 yards with them and those Silvertips do a great job of penetration and leaving a good blood trail. I guess they penetrate enough, never recovered a bullet from a deer. Always pass through leaving a great gushing blood trail.
I tried the Nosler partitions mentioned above, they killed deer too but left very little blood trail so I tried Winchester and have been sold ever since.
