Default I arrowed a deer!! but it got to dark to track! What do you think!!

I just huntedthis afternoon hunt and hit an 8 point buck with my bow. I hit mid body but back in the chest. I found half of my arrow it was covered in blood but there was not a good blood trail andI tracked for about 150 yards. It started to get dark and had to stop. The blood was dark red and had som clots in it but wasn't frothy like a lung shot. What do you think my chances of finding it the next day are. The woods are pritty thick. This would of been my first nice size buck andI feel sick about hitting a animal and it dying and not having itgoing to use. please give me you thoughts on this.

To me, it sounds like a liver shot. If you didn't bump him this evening you should find him pretty close to where you left off tonight.

What time was the shot and what time did you start tracking it?

You would have a had better blood trail using an arrow with a broadhead! j/k

Give that buck some time and he will lay down and die. Keep in mind though, if your area is going to get rain or snow tonight, you will never find him. If not, get out there first light.

If you knew the shot was back, why'd you only wait 20 minutes? I wait 30 minutes to get out of the stand and check blood, and that's with a GUN.

There's always flashlights, or just wait until light tomorrow morning. I'm hoping you're going and looking for the deer tomorrow?
