Is it true that deer would rather travel ridges than valleys?

I don't know if it is consistant in all areas but in the areas where I hunt I find that the deer use the top of the ridges as travel corridors. I suppose that this gives them escape options if spooked.

Not at all! I've shot at least three nice bucks that were traveling in the valley during heavy pressure. You have to watch for those sneaky bucks!

I was always told hunt valleys and i was told to hunt ridge lines to .Anyway back to hunting valleys i would sit a littlet over half way up a valley that way you could watch both the valley and ridge it work for many of times.

when im on the track of a good buck they always seem to travel the valleys and will swing up onto a ridge to check their wind and watch the back trail then continue headed up the valley/ravine. they almost always take me into a saddle where one mountain range meets another. almost ALWAYS

As a general rule I tend to agree with skybuster.
