Can you hunt with a muzzleloader in the 1st shotgun season??? I've been archery hunting there alot and thinking about hunting with a smoke pole there next year! Thanks!

Yes, To be more specific,

1st season: Fri, Sat, Sunday before Thanksgiving. Allowed firearms are shotgun (slug only) nothing less than 20 gauge. Or a Muzzleloader ora handgun.

2nd season the Thursday-Sunday after Thanksgiving, same firearms.

Weekend after the second season is muzzleloader only

Then there is a late season sometime in Janurary/ I believe that is a anterless season. Not sure of the allowed firearms.

Check the Illinois Dept of Natural Resources web site for full regulations. Out of state permit costs have gone up the last few years.

Thanks! I looked at the regs, but somehow I missed it or it wasn't absolutely clear to me. I knew someone would clarify.
