I waited too long to buy shells!!!

I am new to 20 gauge hunting. My son will be hunting with me this year and when we shot this summer there was plenty of shells on the shelf. NOW there is nothing anywhere except #3 buck. I have never shot anything but OO Buck out of my 12 gauge. Should I look for at least #1 or is #3 ok.

No shells available once the season is here? Man, that's a real head scratcher...

You should be ok with the #3 if it's legal there, but limit your range appropriately. Use #1 if you can find it. BTW, are 20 gage slugs illegal there? With a modified or looser choke they're deadly out to 100 yards. I took one of my last two deer with them.

Wal-Mart there is one in every town make a few calls and see if you can find them in one near by.

idk what the state rules are in va but my friend one uses 4 buck and he has got every deer he hit. Its all about shot placement

I thought #3 buck was the largest you could buy in a 20 guage.

I'd be too scared to use buckshot.. afraid those pellets would spread too far... Its Illegal to use buckshot here in Indiana anyways. lol

Ok. First make phone calls. Call anyone you can think of as far as stores go. Call anyone you can think of, local stores, walmart, gander mountains, dicks sporting goods, and cabellas. You might be able to order some from cabellas and get express shipping.You can kill deer with 3 buck shot but really recommend a 20 gauge slugs for deer.
