Default James Valley question

I've been using JVS for past 2 months now. First year for me. Each outing I smear the gel with a stick onto my front boot and when it dried up it turns into a yellowish paper with some letters printed on em. Also lot of paper pieces on my knit cap when I had it in my pocket when I put the stick in so I don't leave my scent behind. Is this normal with James Valley gels ???
