I'm not too sure you'll be able to save that rack. The ones I have seen haven't hardened yet and when they finally dry out they just crumble. I would suggest trying to save the rack with the velvet on. I know for caribou we just scraped the velvet off with a knife and peeled it away. If you want to try and save the velvet I'd drain the blood out first and then try and preserve it with something. I know they make chemicals just for preserving velvet but I've never used it.

I took a rack off a buck that was hit in the road and it was in velvet, i just left it outside for awhile and it was fine. Now i have a half rack in dreind velvet and it looks cool!

i would set it out in the sun for a long time to dry. i have two bow kills from early season hunts and it takes a while for the blood inside to dry out.
not sure if it will come off then i just left mine on. but it gets looser as it drys
