Default Safety Harnesses

seeing and reading post on the "hunting gear review" thread made me think. how many hunters actually use safety harnesses when in stands? i admit that i don't. mainly because they are a pain, especially when you are climbing up and down. i don't even think about wearing one once i'm in my Tree Lounge because it's such a rock solid stand. from my personal experience, once you are sitting in a Tree Lounge...you would pretty much have to jump out of it in order to fall. there is simply no way to "fall" out of it, no matter where you distribute your weight. i'm not trying to advertise or sell any particular tree stand here, i'm just curious if anyone else feels the way i do. i'm going to try and get back into the habbit of wearing one this year.

I wear them when I'm in a hang-on but don't wear them when I'm in my climber. Probably should wear them all the time!

Sometimes. I leave them up in some of my stands all year, some go without, and I'll usualy hold 1 harness and 1 stand on the side for any spur of the moment on the fly hunts.

I hunt either on the ground from a homemade tree seat, my blind, or my buddy ladder stand. I feel secure enough in the buddy satnd with a rail all the way around me not to wear a safety harness,

I always wear one when in my stand. However I don't secure it to the tree until I get to where I'm going.

I have always been wearing one the past 3 years. I have never really liked heights, but more importantly do not want to seriously get injured or killed given I am married, with one young child and a second one on the way in 3 months.

Small price to pay to keep out of a wheel chair the rest of your life.Do it for the folks who are likely going to be pushing your wheel chair if you bust yourself up.

I haven't ever eventried one on, but I am going to start wearing one in my climber. I get comfortable climbing up & down too often, and also try to climb small trees. I also have too much to lose(wife and daughter)

I can't hunt out of trees anymore, but when I did,I was always tied in somehow. I think anyone that doesn't is foolish...

I've got a HSS vest and I'm going to try and make an effort to wear the thing more this Fall.
