Default Dumb deer regulations.......

Finished working on the basement tonight and found an old deer hunt rag down there. Article on dumb deer regs in it. So beings it's off season, maybe we can chuckle (or cuss) at some of these.

OK: 10 years ago they passed a law protecting white deer after a young hunter shot one and set off a media went nutz. (No science backingthe law - albinism is a genetically inferior trait.

VA: Illegal to use a muzzle loader at any time in Southampton County.

NH: VERY IMPORTANT! It is illegal to "negligantly shoot, wound or kill a human being while hunting, or abandon a wounded or killed hunam being." (Would it therefore be legal to intentionally shoot, wound or kill"?

IL: For firearm seasons (shotgun, muzzy, handgun), the hunting hours are one-half hour before sunrise to sunset. During the late muzzy season, that means hunters must climb out of their stands about 40 minutes before last light - when most deer activity occurs.

WI: You may legally harvest a buck with antlers in velvet during the hunting season. But there is a statewide law prohibiting possession of any velvet antlers.

In Illinois it is illegal to use a low velocity centerfire cartridge in a rifle to take deer, yet it is perfectly legal to use a centerline muzzle loader that would kill a buffalo at 300 yards.

I don't like the idea of haveing to keep rabbits separate while group hunting, it is a royal pain.

In Indiana it's perfectly legal to shoot squirrels and other game with high powered rifles(though discouraged), but not deer. We're currently limited to slug guns, muzzle loaders, and now pistol caliber centerfire rifles like leverguns.

Iowa has a quota on the early muzzleloader season but complains about all the deer... And they keep raising the number of outofstate tags. Sorry outsiders but I HATE THIS. This past year they didnt have any anterless deer tags available for any county around mine...

Lol, darn New Hampshire.

Well, this ain't a hunting regulation, but in a small town in TN, it was illegal for 8 or more women to live in the same house, because that would raise suspicion that they're running a brothel.

Ohio used to have this on the law and the bill designating it referred to Sunday as "Family Day In The Woods Day." Always miffed my dad and I that we couldn't go hunting together on Family Day in the Woods

We moved to Ohio from Wisconsin when I was 4. My dad has a 30-06 that he used for deer hunting in Northern Wiscy. The only thing you can use that on in Ohio are coyotes and groundhogs (and other nuissance animals I believe). Ever seen what happens when you hit a groundhog at 75 yards with a 30-06?[:'(]
Let's just say we found some pieces and we had pretty good guesses where they came from!

Here's another one, although not deer related. I still think it's pretty funny. Here in MN it's legal to shoot crows out of season IF they'redoing or about to damage, pretty vague if you ask me.
