Default What is an inexpencive deer feed?

Im looking for something that is inexpencive to feed deer, corn is something i use but they eat too much of it, ive been told peanut butter hung from a tree, but recently ive had bears in my plot area, so idont know if i should use peanutbutter for the fact that i dont want the bears in my foodplot all the time, i throw out bread, and rolls and that type of stuff, but im looking for other things they like that i can get cheap. Very cheap? anyone got any suggestions?

Get some molasses and dump that over stumps. You can get the powdered molasses as well and just scatter that on the ground. Deer love molasses.

You can get the sweet oats from the feed store pretty cheap too, basically oats tossed w/ molassas.

I agree with molassas. I put some on an old stump in front of an old permanent stand and the deer still chew on it to this day.

Fertilizer, it makes what you plant that much more palatable. While you're at it, identify and fertilize the native forage that's most attractive to the deer around that bait pile you're growing.

Kevin's got the right idea to get the most for your money. I'd add to also use lime to help with the palatability.
