Default What to plant

We're doing a lot of work on our food plots this year. For those of you in the south, what are yall planting and what kind of success have you had? We are in south texas so the soil is a little sandy and drains well, so I was thinking about some Tecomate Alfa-Feast (alfalfa and chicory)and maybe Monster Mix too. Also, anyone ever used the Plotsaver to keep deer from early grazing your plots?

WOW.... those are some very serious plots! Huge by most hunting plot standards!

I live here in the Midwest so I can't really make any suggestions about what to plant in TX but I will add that the Tecomote blends have been excellent high quality seeds for us. Monster Mix is ALWAYS a great choice for anyone looking to add some serious nutrients to their herd. I also prefer a mix of RR soybeans but I've heard that LabLab is a better planting for the South. With that much acreage to plant, I'd be SURE to have plenty of LabLab. Good luck with your plots this season and please share info and pix with us as the season develops.

One more thing, you will get better replies to this thread in the Wildlife Management forum.
