Default Railroad/Train affect on Deer in the area?

Question for you all. I have permission to hunt land and have scouted it very well. About 100 acres (big for the area in which I hunt). During the summer, I had evenings in which I filmed 10 mature bucks at a time. The catcher is,a railroad track runs directly through the middle of the property. The train will run, but doesn't have a particular schedule. The deer deal with it everytime it comes through. Truthfully, I don't care how many times I heard it, I would be affraid.

How does this affect the deer and their travel patterns?

Note: I hunted this property that fall, and never seen a deer during legal light except for one day.

We have some tracks that run through a hunting lease next to us they always seem to get deer. I do not think they pay it much attention really.

So do you think these deer are just strictly nocturnal come deer season. They do see pressure, and I suppose the train runs year long not just in season.

I've hunted along RR tracks for several years now and I have observed a few things.I have seen deer stand and wait for the train to pass before they try to cross. This tells me they have adapted well to trains.I dont believe the noise affects them even slitely. There is an abandoned tressel along one stretch and it is 1 of the best stand sites we hunt.I'm sure if you scout along the tracks you will find some well used trails.Goodluck.

I have railroad tracks on the backside of my place in Texas, and it has absolutely NO EFFECT on the deer here. They were born with trains going by, and they will live their entire lives with trains going by.

As far as the deer being nocturnal, I don't believe the train has anything to do with it.

My favorite place to hunt has a railroad on the north boundary. I've had a lot of deer in plots while the train passes by and they hardly raise their head. They have been hearingthe trainall their lives.

You have to remember deer adapt pretty qucik, adn these tracks have been there longer than the deer have so theres really nothing for them to adapt to. Hunt it and hunt it hard.

There are two major trails crossing these RR tracts, and many along side them as a corridor. I just need to find a way to get them out during shooting hours in season.
