Default Shed Collector

In response to the post I made on the "4 bucks" thread I saw a few guys wanting to know what and how to build a shed collector. There are several way to make one or you can actually purchase one. The easiest way to make them at home is if you are feeding deer is to take some large whole chicken wire and hang it 2-3' above your feed pile either in some treebranches or make a structure to hold it. When a buck dips in to feed and raises his head if his antlers are ready to drop they will catch and fall. We have had good success in past years although now it is illegal to feed in NY so we can't use this method. Hope this helps. any other questions let me know

When you are making a shed trap be sure that he wont catch his rack and get stuck if he isnt ready to drop them. Another good way is a trap made of bales of hayor something solid and put into a V the food goes into the small part of the vand when he goes into eat he bumps his rack and knocks it off. Simple and works
