Default How to prevent sweating when walking to hunting spot

I've always had a problem with sweating profusely while walking to my stand in the morning. I'm in good shape and I unzip everything and try to take my time but when you climb big hills you can't help but sweat. There is nothing worse than being cold and wet once you sit for a while. Anybody have any tips on how to prevent this?

Dress in layer and walk in with the minimium. Once in stand allow your self to cool down from the walk then start layer up in stages. I suffer from this problem myself and it helps a lot. I always change out my socks and bootswhen I arrive on stand as that is where I really start to feel the chill.

Don't forget to keep your mid section, head and hands warm.

Good Luck

the only thing i can suggest is be in very good shape, but there is no way to stop your body from sweating,... each person is different...i am with you and sweat alot myself...i just try to wear the newer clothes that are very breathable as just a base..then once i get to my location usually put the rest of the clothes on..

I will usually carry my parka if I have a long walk. This will help bu not eliminate it.

I actually have to take extra socks with me and change them when I get up in the tree.If I don't,my feet will freeze.

Same here, doesn't make any difference how cold it is I still work up a sweat heading to my stand. I now walk out in the lightest clothing I can get away with and put on my heavy layers on stand. I have also elminated any cotton products from my under layer clothing, all these newer fabrics wick sweat away from the body to the outer layers. I have been using the Medalist brands that seem to work on the same principle as Under Armor.
