Default SHED HUNTING TIME

WELL ITS 1/8/07 AND I HAVE STARTED MY ANNUAL SHED SEASON BY THIS TIME LAST YEAR I ALREADY HAD 5 FRESH SHEDS.I JUMPED 4 BUCKS AND THREE DOES THIS MORNING THE BUCKS STILL HAD FULL RACKS.SOME OF YOU WOULD SAY IM CRAZY FOR LOOKING THIS EARLY BUT YOUR WRONG.........IN 2005 I PICKED UP A MATCH SET ON DECEMBER 30 THAT SCORED 166 INCHES WITHOUT THE SPREAD.THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS 1.5 PERCENT OF DEER WILL DROP HORNS IN DECEMBER.BY THE FIRST WEEK OF FEBRUARY 45 PERCENT HAVE DROPPED.AND BY THEMIDDLE OF MARCH 85 PERCENT ARE DOWN I HAVE SEEN FULL RACKED BUCKS INTO APRIL BEFORE BUT NOT OFTEN. THE KEY TO FINDING SHEDS IS FIND EM BEFORE SOMEONE ELSE DOES.THERE OUT THERE LOOK LOOK AND LOOK SOME MORE.THIS YEAR I WANT TO BREAK MY RECORD WHICH IS 83 SHEDS IN ONE SEASON. AND 14 OF THEM WERE MATCH SETS.GET AFTER EM BOYS ITS TIME TO FIND SOME HORNSSSSSSSSSS.

Really weird year up here. They have shedded the earliest i or anyone else can ever remember. Last year we had a ton of snow and knocked quite a few deer down. This year we got a good dump of snow by middle of october and by the end of november it was up past the knees in the fields. Since then we have had little snow and way above normal temps but i beleive that initial dump caused enough stress and flashbacks to last year and they started dropping by begining of december. Usually we would find the odd one over Christamas holidays however this year everyone and their dog had been pickin them up from dec 15th or so on. I have picked up 9 and have 5 bucks feeding in my yard that have all dropped. I have not found anythng really big yet but my bud picked up a set off of a 170 incher. So big and small they are shedden them all up in my area.

This may be a dumb question...but where is the best place to start to look for some sheds? Is it good to start in open fields? In the thicker woods? In possible bedding areas?

I start eitherat the food source or the bedding area and work my way out from there.
