Default Gun for Xmas

I was thinking about a new gun for Xmas and one is was looking at is the Weatherby Vangaurd I was looking at it for whitetails. I live in the mountains but there are some fields and brush also. I was thinking about geting it in the .257 or the .270 Weatherby Mag. I wanted to have some input on the gun quality its self and which caliber I should choose

I have a Vanguard (Weatherby) 7mm Mag. and absolutly love it. It is just as nice as anything else on the market and cant beat the price of them...

You should really look at a Savage. I have a .243, and I love shootin it, I use it for yotes, not deer cause it is not legal in Iowa, but it shoots great. The accu-trigger is cool, real easy to adjust trigger pull.I have shot a .270 Savage also, liked that too.

skip the weatherby calibers(unless you reload), ammo is very expensive. Instead get a 270 win or 243 or a 30-06 and shoot the hell out of it.
edit: vanguard is a good choice for a rifle. suppose to be good shooters too.

Either the .257 or .270 weatherby mag will do awesome for whitetail.
