ok i was deer hunting today and i was on a friends property and i was driving around and i saw some stuff by a tree so i went and looked over there it was a homemade ladder stand made of steel and and is rusty but the owner dosent hunt nobody has been using it it was laying on the ground by the tree so can i take and call it mine or leave it there
i would ask the owner if he has ever let anyone else hunt there? if he has not let anyone else hunt on his land besides the people you know then i would say it is ok...otherwise i would leave it until you make sure no one is using it.
Some people just put them up and forget about them. I know of one on a friend's property that hasn't been used in years. The don't know whos it is and so they just took it. I would take it if it couldn't be anyone's with permission.
