hunting mulies in W. Kansas

I'm interested in possibly planning a hunting trip to western Kansas to hunt Mule deer in the next couple of years. Does anyone have any advice on planning the trip and have any goodinformation onpublic hunting land in western Kansas? Any help would be appreciated.

Here's some advice:

Be sure you can distinguish a Whitetail deer from a Mule Deer, because both live in the same area.

Yeah, I've read that you have to pick either whitetails or mulies when buying your tag. Anyone else? One thing I would like to know is their any decently large public hunting areas in western Kansas (like what's in Colorado and Wyoming)?
