Default Scope mount for Ruger mini-30

I purchased one of those scope mounts for a Ruger Mini-30 (not the rancher), it's the type that mounts to the left side of the reciever and has the over-head rail mount for scopes. Apparently, I'm suppose to remove a plate on the side of the recv'r and replace it with a plate sent with this kit. The mounting bracket can then be screwed into this new plate.

But, I cannot figure out how to remove that plate? There's no access from inside the recv'r and there doesn't seem to be any way to remove the plate from the outside either. I hate to pry on this plate for obvious reasons.

So, does anyone have experience with this bracket that might help meout here?

Default RE: Scope mount for Ruger mini-30

I'm just going by memory, but I think the bolt lock cover plate just slides out of the reciever straight down. You will have to remove the action from the stock.
