Default Anyone heard of this "deer growl"?

I've seen a lot of stories latelyin magazines about a "deer growl". I've never heard it. Has anyone actually heard a deer growl?

My buddy claims that one time he thought that there was a bear coming through the woods. Itturned out to be a deer. He claims it was a smaller buck trying to keep a larger buck away.

I've been deer hunting close to 40 years and I've never heard a deer growl. I vote gimmick to get you to spend your money.

Its more of a name gimmick than anything else. The call is a grunt call. The "growl" that they named it after, just sounds like a deep drawn out grunt.

the red deer rut we call it the roar, sometimes the big fellas moan and it can sound like a growl,
does make the hair stand on end at times.

Drury sells these and Primos has the buck roar.Sounds kinda like when you blow onduck call too hard but deeper. Sounds bad enough to scare my deer out of the woods. I wonder what they will come out with next...maybe the buck breaking wind grunt.

I have heard bucks grunt like a pig when in rut. They let one out with every step when they are trailing a deer. I have seen the growl calls advertised and figure they are just another way for them to get us to spend. Funny, I have a whole drawer full of those calls and always go back to the same one which sounds best to me and has a wooden mouth piece.

Why are we just hearing about the deer growl? All these years of deer calls and calling they are just talking about it. Did the deer just out of nowhere start to makegrowling sounds? Because very few hunters have heard this sound, makes me think it is more of a gimmick to make money than anything else. Nothing more than a glorified grunt call.
