went to one of my stands about a mile from the truck where i had moved a stand and there were fresh scrapes.got there just before daylight and scrapes were everywhere.i sat for a couple of hours and the wind was 15-20mph so i decided to go to the truck,get some things for lunch and planned to sit til dark at the ground blind.got in the blind around 9.00am and started getting things organized.glanced up the pipe line at 200 yards a large deer stepped out.i could see his rack without getting my gun up,which he did not give me time to do.as he was ready to leave the pipe line,i grunted and he stopped but there were overhanging limbs and i could not shoot.he stepped into the wood line and i went out the door of the blind.and behind it to wards the pasture i knew he would cross.when i ran the 40 yards and looked,he was 150 yards away and looking my way.i was behind a small cedar and started getting my gun up.he bolted a few yards and stopped and i placed the cross hairs on his heart offhand.he ran back to wards be at the shot and piled up about 100 yards away.he was 180-200#,7 point and had a 16'' spread.my son's 270 did the job.
