Default Dakota Hunting 2010

Looking to take another trip out west this year. Been river bottom and breaks hunting in Montana 3 times and really had a good time there. MF&G is pricing that state out of anyones budget. Thinking about South Dakota. Saw a few outfitters that hunt the river bottoms along with Mule Deer hunting and goat hunting.

Right now I am looking at maybe going with Pat West of Dakota Ranch outfitters. Does anyone have any info on his operation or any other operations that they would recommend.

ARCHERY ONLY

Maybe some bird hunting if the seasons overlap.

TIA

Are you a dakota resident? What are the price differences?

No matter what state I apply for out west, the costs all seems to break even. Sure there is some given/take.

NR tags in SD are a couple $100's.

Montana is around $1,000

I suppose it depends what tags you're comparing...DIY vs. guided...

my elk tag was just less than $600, if I wanted the elk/deer combo it would've cost me an extra $50 to tack on deer.

MT's sheep, moose, and goat tags are some of the cheapest in the west, if not the cheapest.

Are you talking outfitter sponsored tags in MT?

Btw if you're talking archery mule deer guided hunts, I'd look to CO, hands down the best mule deer state right now...
