The fist season here in maine has ended and it was The worst hunting I' ve ever done. Wasn' t for lack of effort, scouting or options. Just nothing to kill. I sure hope the second season gets better. Anyone else out there have a less than normal start to the year??
Opening day in New York four of us bagged 21. Second day 5. Mostly wood ducks. We have been out 3 times since then and only bagged 1 or 2 each time. I think the wood ducks have started migrating but the mallards haven' t yet. It has been so warm that the mallards are still in Canada. They will be coming soon though.
Early season on merrymeeting saw quite a few ducks for us, so I' m surprised to hear you so that. Late season was pretty slow, but overall I think the first season was about average for us.

I was hunting merrymeeting bay also. sure there was a few out there but you couldn' t get them low enough. I didn' t see the numbers go all that much higher than when i was scouting pre-season. i also put in some time up near agusta. mabey i was in the wrong place at the wrong time!!
