on one hand i wholeheartedly agree as its an awesome waterfowl shotgun, enough so that i bought one myself. however, this wouldn't be the gun i could imagine my girlfriend shooting 50 rounds out of in a morning.
i'd favor a nice little gas semi auto in 20 guage for the ladies.

^^^^This is IMPORTANT..., not all autoloaders recoil equally.
Fit is important so let your wife pick out "gas operated" that she likes.

I too like a 20gauge as long as its not real light..20's can kick just as hard as a 12 if theyre light weight

M3020 Shotgun, black synthetic would be the best choice, you can check it.

Default Most men pick the wrong firearm for a woman

They pick the one they'd use and usually never pick the one the wife can actually use.

Make sure to check the length of pull (LOP). Getting a stock that fits your wife will help with recoil, even with a gas gun, and more importantly sight picture.

Shotguns that doint point well often up as "closet queens".

My daughter does a very fine job with the same Beretta 391 20ga. that I bought her 10 yrs ago.

She does not care to duck hunt, to cold & you just sit there some days, but she's death on anything from Starlings raiding our cherry trees, grouse, pheasants and farmed chuckers & quail.

I tried hard to convince her to go with a Benelli Montefeltro 20 ga. but she liked the Beretta better. Now, having seen her shoot it, I"m glad I went with what felt best to her, not what I though would be best.

The Beretta 391 is lighter in recoil when firing 3" loads, which you'll need for waterfowl, just as my girl uses them for late season pheasants & out to 45 yds it kills really well. (I handload 1 1/8 oz. of nickel plated 6 shot for her. Faster than 1 1/4 oz. and pattern very well.)
