Default 2 Questions on decoys?

Ok, they are always selling mallards with bluebills in " big water kits" , well, I have never seen a bluebill with a mallard. Would it be beneficial to get some? I just dont really understand. I can understand some teal, and wood ducks, but have them in there own groups off to the sides, but bluebills?
Also, what about those little torpedo decoys? The little propellers underneath, how do they work. How do you anchor them? I am just curious, because I want to add motion, but we can use the robo ducks until a certain date, and I dont really want to pay that much, because my luck, they would then be illegal. Thanks for all of the help!

skip the torpedo thing. use a bumble ball in a ziplock freezer bag. cover the bag with camo duct tape. poke a hole in the outer section of the bag and loop a rubber band through it. loop the other end of the band around anything else...branch, grass, deke, etc. btw, it only works on windless days.

the bumble ball is one of those hard plastic tennis ball sized things with a raccoon tail. cut off the tail (wear it on your hat, antenna, etc). it runs off of 1 AA battery. you can get them at spensers. i have not found them at k-b toys or toys ' r us. $5. 50 cents for a battery. 25 cents for a freezer bag, 25 cents for the camo tape and rubber band. i bought one of those duck magnet things for $20, but these bumble balls are just as good if not better. the innards of both are about the same, a small dc motor that spins an offset weight, the imbalance of weight as it' s spinning causes the motion. like a ceiling fan with all but one blade removed.

I' ve got one at home right now and just did not know it! That thing drives me crazy. My son will turn it on then leave the room while it bangs around into everything. He' s still a little to young to go duck hunting, but maybe I can just take his bumble ball!

thanks for the insight.

I' ve acctually had more bluebills come into mallard decoys than into bluebill dekes or even can dekes. Bluebills acctually are really stuipd I hate to say it but they are. I do most of my hunting on big water early season and especially late season and since I have only 2 bills I use all Mallards and they work just as good as anything. The only thing that better about bill dekes is because of their coloration they show up better at longer distances than mallards. Can' s show up even farther.

That bumble ball thing sounds really cool I might have to try it this year.
