Question Choosing a good gun for new waterfowl hunter.

I'm looking into buying my first shot gun. i have narrowed it down between three guns.
First, the remington 887 Nitro mag, from the reviews i have read on this gun is that its nice but with the new ejectors remington is using alot of people are getting jams on shooting the empty shell out or reloading the new shell.
Second, the mossberg 530 ATS waterfowl series, again nice gun, but seeing alot of reviews of it jamming.
Third, I am leaning most towards the remington 870 express, a good reliable gun that has been around for a while, it has had its ups and downs but still a trustable gun.

I plan on doing a lot of bird hunting in the next couple years and want a reliable shot gun that i don't have to worry about jamming on me when I pull up for a shot. All advice and opinions would greatly help, thanks.

I have hunted ducks, pheasant, and grouse with a Remington 870 and a Mossberg 835. Both pump and chambered for 3-1/2" shells. Never had any issues with the 870 at all. The Mossberg liked to jam after the first 3-1/2" shell was shot. It had issues since it was new with ejecting the big shells. Out of the three you are looking at, I would go with the 870 hands down.

If you don't mind spending a little more money, get a Benelli! I have been duck and pheasant hunting with my Benelli M7 for three years now and this gun is amazing! It is balanced perfectly and feels great. It has been super reliable from crawling around in muddy fields in October to breaking ice in November and December. Do it right the first time! Benelli!

agreeed, if you can spend a little extra money! but if you set on those shot guns go with the 870, maybe not the express if possible again, i have an express and a wingmaster and the wingmaster 870 has a lot smoother pump action than the express.

Get one that fits you, simple as that. If a gun is too long or short for you in the stock it will be uncomfortable to shoot and get the same resting point each time.

don't go in there set on one gun, pick a few out and throw them up to your shoulder and get the one that feels best. If your mostly hunting in timber don't get a super long barrel lol
28-30 inch is about right. Also get a pump if you don't want it to jam.

If you get an 870 buy an older used one.

In that price range, I would go with the 870
