Default Ice Problems

The cold snap froze over some of the spots we like to hunt. A friend told me about using a deicer to keep the water open. Has anyone used these before. I found a boating website that sells em http://savvyboater.com/c-55-deicers-ice-eaters.aspx but i don't know if these are what he was talkin about. Any suggestions???

they are just a stationary propeller that keep the water flowing
they do open a section of water up. that is nice when everything else is iced over.

Ice eaters are a must if the temps are well below freezing and the ice is fairly thick. The unit pulls warmer water off the bottom and circulates it to the top. Only issue is you have to have power at your spot. They definitely work great, however if it gets really cold they will only keep a small hole open.
