Default goose hunting fields

I have access to a lot of field since my dad farms. I don't know if the best fields are corn, wheat, dry land, summerfalow or what.

"NORMALY" the corn feilds are the best

But look to see what the local geese are hitting
And set up in that type of feild

SDakotaHunter read my mind. SCOUT! Hunt the fields the geese have been using. Especially Snows - We set up where the snow geese were the afternoon before. Corn provides the most cover for layout blinds (unless you all bush hogged it)- but just go where the birds are. Lucky b@$%ard!

This is not set in stone but.... On cold days, the geese will eat in the yellow fields (meaning grain). They need high yield foods to keep them warm. They will usually go to feed twice a day when it is cold.

On warm days they eat in the green fields (winter wheat and the like). On those days, they seem to only feed once. They tend to stay out all day and loaf in the fields where they are feeding.

A good indicator of where to look is by watching your park geese. They will help you predict the future weather. If the birds are staying in the park and eating all day, the weather will probably be warm with little to no moisture. If the park geese are going out to feed, you can bet there is a front on the the way.

Hope that helps.
