Default RE: Steel Through Full?

All depends on the gun and the choke tube
Some brands of gun , the full is rated for steel , some it isn't

Remington has a full the isn't , but also have one that is
So you just have to check with the choke manufacture

Shoot , EAA O/U ( now RemingtonSpartin ) non of the chokes that came with the guns were steel shot rated , not sure of the new guns now
You were suposed to but different choketubes

It is not recomended to shoot steel thru a full choke of any brand. Most of the new chokes that come with a gun tell you either NO STEEL or STEEL OK.

Beretta's factory full choke says steel ok. That being said, back in 98 was the first year that I got into duck hunting and after the first month I was ready to give up because of chasing cripples. So I bought a case of Kent TM and that pretty much solved my problem except for the price. Then I tried my full(Beretta steel ok) with some steel that I had left. The next year I sold the tm that I had left and ever since then I only shoot a full with steel. Now days we have the high velocity steel and I have found that winchester xpert 3" does the best for me through the full.

I no longer have the beretta and the gun I have now says no steel with the full so I bought a carlsons choke for it from cabela's.

I know I will get slammed for writing this but I'm just stating what works for me and the folks I hunt with ,however, I'm not stating that I think everyone should do this.

Fantail
I don't think anyone will slam you for your statement. If it says steel OK it just means that the choke is set up as a steel full choke. It probably would be considered a mod. choke by lead shot standerds. I used to try to see if a dime would fit in the end of a barrel on edge. If it wouldn't, I would consider it at least a full choke if not tighter. That was in the day when you didn't have replaceable choke tubes.

depends with the newer shotguns coming out alot more are being rated for steel shot with full choke but the older models its not recomended at all due to the fact that steel doesnt conform like lead
