A duck the hard way
Tonight it was 60 degrees
Sunny with not a cloud in the sky
With 5 - 10 MPH SW winds
Not great duck hunting
So I went bow hunting for deer
I was in a tree stand over looking a Oak flat and a 20' wide creek
While I was waiting for the deer to move I was watching the woodies swim up and down the creek , also they were flying back and forth
So about 4 I said what the heck
Got the practice arrow out of the quiver
A few min later a pair of Woodies swam past me about 10 yards away
The water is only 18" deep next to the bank where they were
I hit the drake perfictly
Pinning him to the bottom
The hen flew away
The deer came in a little later
But none of the doe's came close enough
Only a 6 and 8 point
But I had to pass
As I have already filled my buck tag
