Default Fed Black Cloud pattern

This is a pattern that I shot today from 25 yards. It's the Fed Black Cloud 3 1/2 BB. The gun is a Goldhunter, Mod choke.

That's not bad. That bird would be dead.... how did it look if you bumped it back to around the 40yd mark?

I wouldn't expect much from the patternmaster... The flite control wads are designed to stay with the shot longer, and the PM strips the wad from the shot.... who knows.. might work out great for you, but its sort of one canceling the others out. If you have the PM already, go for it! But don't drop a bunch of money on it if you are planning on shooting these shells... you might end up being dissapointed.

I didnt think of the wad stopping part of the PM...duh. I might try a briley? The pattern with the reg mod choke and the Black Cloud looks good enough to hunt with. Can you buy the flight control wad to load yourself?

The design of the federal flite control wad used in black cloud I believe is suppost to slow down faster or stop quicker.Thats why they have the little fins on them.At least that's what I understand, but I could be wrong.I also have black cloud and a PM choke.Have not patterned it yet,but I also have some Kent fast steel just incase the PM doesn't pattern . That is a nice pattern by the way

I used this ammunition yesterday on geese was quite disappointed in it. My buddy and I ended up knocking 7 out of the sky with this stuff problem was they ended up getting back up and flying away. I was using the #2 3inch out of an Mossberg 835 with a modified choke and he was using an 870 with a modified. They were obviously being hit well it just was not doing its job. They also did not produce the wound channels they are advertisied to do. The channels are identical to standard steel shot.

I used it the other day. BB 3 1/2 and dropped geese and also had them running and flying off. Throws a nice pattern but I will spend any extra $ on H-Shot.

I hunted with a guy on the early teal/wood duck season and he was using the black cloud. I watched him shoot at a wood duck 3 times and thought he missed but it ended up falling bout 70 yards out. I was not impressed with the stuff but it probably needs more tinkering with.
