Default Bird ID

I live in Northern Utah and am wondering if anyone would know what the following bird might be.

Completely grey except front top part of wings which are blue. About the size of pigeon, but not quite as plump. Was passively pecking at the top of the wood fence post and neighbors tool shed. Gorgeous bird.

Any idea? Never seenone before and didn't appear to look at all like a woodpecker.

Sorry no picture, just saw it in passing. I live in West Jordan (SLC). forgot I put this post up. It was a common bird, definitely not a teal.
