Default goose vital zone

Where is the vital zone on a Canadian Goose? I have searched the net and have not found any detailed info.

Thanks,
Rick C.

I guess I should ask, where should I aim? I am new to goose hunting, want to give it my best effort to make a clean shot and a quick kill.

Focus on the head. Specifically on the white chinstrap.

The human eye has a tendency to key in on things that move....on a goose...that would be the feet and the tail. Think of that white chin strap as a clay bird, and you'll bust them every time. Geese are some of the easiest birds to hit. They are deceptively slow...but as long as you swing out in front of the head, and not the body....no problem.

Use the three bs But, beak, boom. I try to go for a head shot on any bird that i am after. You ever bite down on some steel shot? That stuff doesn't give, your tooth does.

Head, neck and broken wings are what I've most often been successful bring them down. With full feathers and down underneath and straight on or directly above shot through the breast is very tough to penetrate to the vitals. More often than not, I have best success with a crossing or even if they do come directly over head letting them pass a little past. In the latter case, the BBs go through the feathers better and into internals and still have opportunity to break wings.

Head shots here, just swing a little ahead of them.

where you shoot does make a big difference and so does the size shot you are using. I shot BBB in the early season and had absolutly no problems, but when i ran out i went to the store and all they had were BB. BB is an inferior load and i had lots more problems killing geese with BB. From now on all i am going to shoot at geese is kentfast steel BBB

I aim where the wing meets the body. If you break their wings they aint going anywhere, period. They will die plenty fast enough when they fall to the ground. Dont know how many geese (and ducks for the matter) body shot a ton of times and get away only to die somewhere never to be found. If you aim for the head you better have a good pattern for it. But for me I'll stick with the wings.
