Default Taxidermy

There are alot of waterfowl out there with some awsome patterns and colors, and I'm thinking about getting a couple ducks mounted. Was wondering what some of ya pay your taxidermist to put a dead bird on the wall.

Depends who does it,, ive seen anywhere from a $100-300. $200 is reasonable for good work.

this guy does incredible work,, well worth the money in my opinion.

Just read my signature...its true with everything in life.

If you pay a cheap rate...you'll probably get cheap work. And there is nothing tackier or more trashy than a poorly done mount.

I thought between $200-250 sounded about right. This coming summer Im thinking about trying some taxidermy and maybe doing it as my side job. I'm going to school this year to become apart of the Indiana DNR and thought I would do taxidermy on the side. I looked into how much it would cost to do a duck and other animals and alot of taxidermist make a pretty darn good profit. I'll probably start out pretty cheap untill I get a little more demand, and I know that will make some of them tight wads around my area happy for awhile.

Roadkill - it does seem that way but when you look into the long hours and such, the money ain't that good. I do it because I love it. Also don't set your prices too low, you'll get slammed with work and not make any money. Call around and find out how much evryone in your area is getting and go just below them and try to go up with experience. I started out slightly lower and now am the most expensive.
